Casas Escazu Venta

The canton of Escazú is the second in the province of San José and was founded in 1920. From its beginnings, it has stood out as a town where modernity blends with a rural atmosphere, enriched by many traces of the colonial era. This unique character is due in part to its becoming home to many immigrants and expatriates—numerous embassies have established their residences here, including those of the ambassadors of the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, South Korea, among others.

It enjoys a very pleasant climate, with temperatures ranging between 18°C and 29°C, thanks to its topography, which varies between 900 and 2,400 meters above sea level. The area is home to remarkable natural beauty and scenic landscapes. To the south of the canton lies the Cerros de Escazú Protected Zone, which is part of the country’s Central Conservation Area. It is a popular destination, especially for nature and adventure enthusiasts, where visitors can enjoy outdoor sports, cycling, family picnics, or simply take in the breathtaking views of the Central Valley.

In recent years, Escazú has seen a significant influx of foreign residents, primarily from North America, South America, and Europe. This has greatly influenced the local gastronomy, with the opening of many elegant bars, restaurants, and diverse businesses. For this reason, Escazú is known as a cosmopolitan and multicultural city.

The canton of Escazú is often described as “a place of contrasts,” known for cultivating the arts, artisan traditions, folkloric movements, and popular culture, including the traditional ox cart. It is also famously referred to as “The City of Witches,” according to local legends.
